How to use HoyaDocs
HoyaDocs is your one-stop shop to supplement, test, and consolidate what you're already learning — whether that's in-house lectures, BnB, Pathoma, Physeo, Sketchy, the BK Anki deck, ANKing, or anything else.
- It is NOT meant to teach you the content.
- It is NOT meant to replace faculty-provided formative feedback.
- It IS meant to level the playing field — giving those of us who need more reps a place to actually get them.
- It IS meant to be a spaced-repetition alternative for anyone who can't stomach one more Anki session.
Think of it as a tailored aid that sits on top of whatever primary sources you're using — built to save us all the time and money we don't have as we balance Step and an in-house curriculum. And maybe — just maybe — leave enough daylight in the day to confirm the sun still exists.
Choose your own adventure. Here's an example of a workflow start to finish, but feel free to go à la carte and pick and choose which aspects of the Hub work best for you.
The night before content is introduced, skim the lecture guide to prime your brain for what's coming. Think scaffolding not memorizing.
Before (or instead of) the in-house lecture, watch the mapped 3rd-party video — BnB, Bootcamp, Pathoma, Physeo, or Sketchy. Primes you for the lecture and gives you the Step 1 framing upfront.
Minimize stop time.
Ideally the same day as Step 2. Quick, low-stakes, forces retrieval.
Active application. Use the Recall Drill and Lecture Guide as your reference, then work through the embedded MCQs and Q&A.
Three drill hubs per lecture, each progressively harder — designed as an alternative or supportive track to spaced repetition via Anki. Concludes with the lecture's mapped UWorld QIDs.
Shift from lecture-based reinforcement to exam-style, system-based application. USMLE Step 1 style — a mix of AI-generated stems, 3rd-party questions, and items from the free USMLE 120 exams.
Head over to Canvas and complete any formative feedback — final tune-up before the block exam. Closes the loop and flags anything still not clicking.
Each block (GI, Endocrine, Repro) has the same four-part core structure.
- Google Sheet Lecture Checklist Endocrine_Block_Checklist.gsheet
- 3rd Party Mapping Per Lecture (Excel file) Endocrine_Resource_Mapping.xlsx
- UWorld QID Mapping Per Lecture (Excel file) HoyaDocs-UWorld-QID-Mapping.xlsx
Three tiers of study guides, scoped from lecture-level all the way up to full-exam review.
-
Per Lecture — "Lecture Guides"
Also contain the MCQs and associated recall drills for that lecture.end03-lg.html
-
Per Topic List — "Atlas"
E.g. an atlas of all GI diseases referenced throughout the block, populated with the associated HY information (including Test Traps!) for Step and in-house exams.thyroid-disease-atlas.html
-
Per System or Subject — "HY Study Guides"
E.g. HY notes on endocrine physiology including Test Traps, most-commonly-tested concepts, and how they tend to be tested.endo-phys-sg.html
Every lecture cross-referenced to the outside resources you already use — no hunting through indexes.
-
Per Lecture:
- UWorld QIDs end03-uworld-qids.xlsx
- Anki cards (BK + ANKing) BK_Endocrine_L3.apkg
- 3rd-party videos (BnB, Bootcamp, Pathoma, Physeo, Sketchy) BnB-Endo-Ch03.mp4
- First Aid & other texts FA2025-Endo-p319.pdf
Where you actually test what's sticking. Scales from a single learning objective up to a full exam block.
- Per LO — Recall Drill, MCQ, Q&A end03_lo3_recall.html
- Per Lecture — Three tiered drill hubs (Hub 1 → 2 → 3) end03_hub1.html
- Per Exam — USMLE Question Bank QuestionBank.html
Quick reference — the shortest path to whatever you're looking for.
Recent changes by block. Each entry tags whether it's a new resource or an update to an existing one, with a Day/Month/Year timestamp.
